Green Diwali is What it is this Time
The Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) has banned the import of the Chinese crackers this year to celebrate a less noisy and pollution free Diwali this year in comparison to the last few years. This Diwali is going to be a Green Diwali in Punjab and other states. Like it is known to everyone, that Ludhiana is the most polluted country in India because of the industries there. The level of harmful pollutants increases immensely on the occasion of Diwali due to which the residents have to face a lot of harmful diseases.
The sub-standard and Chinese crackers are the main reason for this scenario every year. Therefore, Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) believes that by banning such crackers, the level of the pollution will get decreased and the scenario will be under control. There will be crackers on the festival but those would surely be less polluting than the sub-standard and Chinese crackers.
The chief environmental engineer of the PPCB, Gulshan Rai said, “Awareness regarding harmful effects of use of crackers is on rise and we are keeping a close watch on pollution levels during these days.” It is being hoped that this Green Diwali will surely be more environment friendly than the past few years that have caused a great harm to our natural environment.
