Smoke fills San Francisco rail station after sparking on track; no injuries reported

SAN FRANCISCO – Officials say a San Francisco rail station filled with smoke due to sparking from a track insulator. No injuries or damage were reported.

Bay Area Rapid Transit spokeswoman Alica Trost says smoke was reported on the platform of the Powell Street station about 8:45 a.m. Friday.

Trost says passengers experienced short delays. The trains and tracks were inspected and no problems were found,

The station was ventilated but not closed.
